Move Dropbox to Box
Copy the files you choose from Dropbox into Box, cloud to cloud, without downloading anything. Everything we copy lands in a dated CloudRaft folder in Box, so it never mixes with what's already there — and your Dropbox originals are never touched.
How it works
- Sign in to CloudRaft and connect your Dropbox account on its own login screen.
- Pick the files or folders you want to copy from Dropbox.
- Connect Box as the destination.
- We measure everything first and show you the plan — file count, size, and anything we have to set aside — before a single byte copies.
- Press Start. The copy runs on our servers, so you can close the tab; your Dropbox originals are never touched.
Your originals are never touched
CloudRaft is copy-only. It reads the files you pick from Dropbox and writes copies into Box— it never deletes, moves, renames, or changes anything in your source. We don't store your file contents; they stream between the two clouds through our worker and are never written to our disks.
What to know for this move
- Dropbox Paper docs aren't regular files — export them to Word or PDF from Dropbox first if you want them in Box.
- Box enforces a per-file upload limit that depends on your Box plan (about 250 MB on the free Individual plan, much higher on Business plans). A Dropbox file larger than your Box limit is set aside up front, never half-uploaded.
- We create a fresh CloudRaft folder in Box for each migration and write only there — we never modify or delete your existing Box files.
Questions
Do I have to download my files to move them from Dropbox to Box?
No. CloudRaft copies directly between Dropbox and Box on its own servers — nothing is downloaded to your computer and you don't need to keep a device running.
Will CloudRaft delete or change my Dropbox files?
Never. CloudRaft is copy-only: it reads the files you choose and writes copies to Box. It cannot delete, move, or modify anything in Dropbox — that's enforced in code, not just policy.
What does it cost?
You can copy up to 10 GB free, no card. Beyond that you buy a one-time pass — a fixed amount of data for a one-time price, no subscription.
How long does it take?
As fast as both providers allow — we don't throttle. Small files move quickly; very large files take longer. It runs in the background, so you don't have to watch it.
Did everything copy correctly?
We verify every file landed at the destination before counting it done — by size, and by checksum where the provider supports one. The count you see is the verified count, not just attempted.
Can I move my Dropbox files to a Box Business account?
Yes. CloudRaft copies the files you pick from Dropbox into Box, whether it's a personal or Business account. Writes go into a dedicated CloudRaft folder, so your existing Box content is never altered.
What happens to a file that's too big for my Box plan?
We measure every file before copying, so anything over your Box per-file limit is shown as set aside before anything starts. Raise your Box plan's limit and run a quick second migration for those files.
