Move Dropbox to Nextcloud
Move the files you choose out of Dropbox and onto your own Nextcloud server — directly, without downloading them to your laptop first. Ideal if you're leaving big-cloud storage for something you control. Your Dropbox originals stay exactly as they are.
How it works
- Sign in to CloudRaft and connect your Dropbox account on its own login screen.
- Pick the files or folders you want to copy from Dropbox.
- Connect Nextcloud as the destination.
- We measure everything first and show you the plan — file count, size, and anything we have to set aside — before a single byte copies.
- Press Start. The copy runs on our servers, so you can close the tab; your Dropbox originals are never touched.
Your originals are never touched
CloudRaft is copy-only. It reads the files you pick from Dropbox and writes copies into Nextcloud— it never deletes, moves, renames, or changes anything in your source. We don't store your file contents; they stream between the two clouds through our worker and are never written to our disks.
What to know for this move
- Connect Nextcloud with a one-click login on your own server's screen (or an app password) — never your main password, so you can revoke CloudRaft's access any time.
- Your Nextcloud server has to be reachable on the public internet over HTTPS (e.g. https://cloud.example.com). A home/LAN address like https://192.168.1.50 won't work.
- Dropbox Paper docs aren't regular files — export them from Dropbox first if you want them on Nextcloud.
Questions
Do I have to download my files to move them from Dropbox to Nextcloud?
No. CloudRaft copies directly between Dropbox and Nextcloud on its own servers — nothing is downloaded to your computer and you don't need to keep a device running.
Will CloudRaft delete or change my Dropbox files?
Never. CloudRaft is copy-only: it reads the files you choose and writes copies to Nextcloud. It cannot delete, move, or modify anything in Dropbox — that's enforced in code, not just policy.
What does it cost?
You can copy up to 10 GB free, no card. Beyond that you buy a one-time pass — a fixed amount of data for a one-time price, no subscription.
How long does it take?
As fast as both providers allow — we don't throttle. Small files move quickly; very large files take longer. It runs in the background, so you don't have to watch it.
Did everything copy correctly?
We verify every file landed at the destination before counting it done — by size, and by checksum where the provider supports one. The count you see is the verified count, not just attempted.
Can I move my Dropbox files to a self-hosted Nextcloud?
Yes. CloudRaft copies the files you pick from Dropbox straight to your Nextcloud server over a secure connection — nothing is downloaded to your computer, and your Dropbox originals are never deleted or changed. It's copy-only.
Which self-hosted clouds work besides Nextcloud?
The same connector covers ownCloud, Synology, pCloud, Koofr, Fastmail, Seafile, QNAP, and other servers that speak the WebDAV standard — you connect yours with an app password.
